Eligibility Requirements
To audition for Connecticut CMEA All-State, you must meet all of the following:
- ✓Be a student in grades 9-12 in a Connecticut high school
- ✓Be a member of your school's band program
- ✓Have your band director submit your audition entry
- ✓Your school must be a member of CMEA
- ✓Meet all academic eligibility requirements set by your school district
Audition Materials
CMEA All-State auditions use selected etudes and prescribed materials specific to each instrument. Materials are typically released in the fall.
Audition Etudes
CMEA publishes audition etudes for each instrument. These are the primary materials you'll prepare and perform during regional auditions.
Scale Requirements
All major and minor scales are expected. Scales are a significant portion of the audition and judges evaluate tone quality and consistency.
Sight-Reading
Judges provide new material during your audition. Practice reading unknown passages fluently and accurately.
